Improve your mental capabilities by spending 1 hour every day to do new activities.

A bit of sci-fi space worldbuilding today

Axiom Consolidation

The Culture: Pure Technocracy. To an Axiom citizen, "waste" is the only true sin. Their  worlds are Factories. They don't terraform, they process and utilise every isotope of the planet.

The Governance: The Grand Synchrony, an hierarchical structure of elected 7-9 millions brightest minds (augmented by quantum processors) who manage the logistics of thousands of worlds.

The Population: 75% Human. Allow humanoids to join, as long as they follow rules. About 1200 colonised star systems in 4 galaxies.

The Grand Project: "The Threshold", sometimes referred internally as gateway to Zytheralis. It is ultimate purpose of every citizen.

The Goal in this Sector. Research unique worlds to improve utilisation of resources.

Does shopping increase neuroplasticity?

I spent 1 hour ordering microelectronics parts for small project. Researching what components I need, and then trying to add few more to get free delivery.

I was just reflecting on how this activity affected my neuroplasticity:

  • mapping requirements -> parts -> constraints,
  • it created new associations in my brain,
  • thinking through various options forced me do make many decisions about cost vs usefulness,
  • combining multiple activities at the same time (tech to asses specifications, budgeting, dreaming about future possible projects)

Different chess

How to play chess differently (yet another random idea).

Take 2nd board and 2 kings. First board is usual. 2nd board, only 2 kings at their places. Boards are next to each other but not connected. Player have same color on both boards.

To win, do a checkmate on any of the boards.

Turns: during your turn, you could move piece on any of the boards (but only one).

When piece is captured on first board, its owner could place it to any place on nearest 2 rows on 2nd board.
When piece is captured on second board, it is eliminated from the game.

Special rules (castling, en passant, etc) are not allowed on 2nd board.

This is great way to flex you ability to think and make decisions, as advantage on one board may bring huge disadvantage on another.
